COMMON INQUIRIES
Questions and Answers
What if I only want to rent the lodge and not the villa?
The villa will be available to rent if it is not rented along with the lodge and there is the possibility that it gets rented by others and you will have to share the island with whomever rents the villa. There are 2 docks, one for the villa and one for the lodge.
What if I want to bring multiple boats?
If you rent the lodge AND villa you will get access to two boat docks. If you want more than that, we have an additional dock at the back of the property that is available for $200 flat fee. You can also tie up boats next to each other.
Can I drive there?
No. The island is accessible by boat only.
Where do I keep my car?
The best option is launching your boat out of Homosassa Springs Marina and keeping your car there. There is also Riverhaven Marina and Florida Cracker Resort.
Are there places to buy supplies or groceries on the water?
MacRaes which is near the marinas, has boat slips for you to use for short term visits to their bait shop and restaurant. The bait shop sells masks, snorkels, ice, gas, snacks, sunscreen, etc. Next door there is a restaurant with fast food that you can order and take out. Other restaurants on the water that you can boat to include Marguerita Grill and Crumps Landing.
Are pets allowed?
Up to 2 dogs are allowed with a fee of $100 per dog. Due to allergies we do not allow cats or other animals.
Is there an age limit?
You must be 25 years old to book the property. ID is required upon booking.
Hosting an event with more than 18 people?
Events and weddings are discussed on a case by case basis. Please submit an inquiry on the events tab.
I am concerned about the water system. How does it work?
Most island homes in Citrus county rely on a gutter system that collects rainwater which is filtered and and treated and is then produced as the water system for the home. If you are used to taking a 20 minute shower at home, you cannot have that luxury at the lodge. If the cistern runs out of water, water will have to be delivered at the guests expense. It is very feasible for a group of 18 to not run out of water as long as showers are kept to a minimum of 3-5 minutes per guest and no excessive running of the sink water. We suggest buying gallons of water before coming to the island for you to use for drinking.
